LANAP

Gum disease is a serious condition, but many patients avoid treatment due to fear and anxiety about conventional gum surgery.

LANAP Stimulates Your Body’s Natural Healing Response

Less Painful

The LANAP protocol uses the PerioLase® MVP-7™ laser to treat gum disease without cutting the gums or placing stitches. This advanced device provides more comfortable treatment and involves little to no postoperative discomfort.

Quicker Recovery Time

In most cases, patients return to their normal daily activities immediately after the LANAP procedure. Typically, this treatment requires less than 24 hours of downtime. In contrast, recovery can take two to four weeks after traditional surgery with a scalpel.

Healthier Gums

With LANAP, the laser simply seals the treatment area, meaning the tissues stay completely intact. Unlike conventional surgery, the laser also prompts the body’s natural healing response, encouraging the renewal of both bone and soft tissue for a healthier smile.

New Attachments between Teeth and Gums

After — The LANAP procedure restored a gum health.

It seems too good to be true...

LANAP Sounds More Comfortable,

But Does That Mean It's More Expensive?

Generally, treatment with LANAP costs about the same as conventional gum surgery with less pain and higher rates of success. In addition, many insurance companies provide coverage for LANAP. The final cost of your treatment for gum disease will depend on a few factors, including the dentist you choose and the number of teeth being treated. In many cases, the LANAP protocol is used as a full-mouth periodontal treatment.

Full mouth treatment with LANAP may cost between $4,000.00 and $6,000.00

Improve Your Gum Health in Two Short, Easy Sessions

LANAP typically requires two visits of about two hours each.

  • Before beginning, your doctor will administer local anesthesia to ensure your comfort during the procedure.
  • Next, they will place a tiny laser fiber into the periodontal pocket between the gum and the tooth.
  • The laser selectively removes diseased tissue and kills germs while leaving healthy tissue unharmed.
  • Your dentist will then use an ultrasonic root cleaner to remove built-up tartar and plaque and flush out the gum pocket with an antibacterial rinse.
  • The laser is used a second time to remove any remaining debris at the bottom of the pocket.
  • As a result of the laser treatment, the blood becomes thicker and creates a tight seal around the tooth. This naturally protects against infection.

During the first session, your doctor will treat half of your mouth. When you return for the second procedure, they will treat the other half.

Is LANAP my only option for treating gum disease?

Learn More about Your Treatment Options

Generally, LANAP is recommended as an alternative treatment for conventional gum surgery. Traditional forms of gum surgery use a scalpel to remove tissue so your dentist can access bacteria and diseased tissue inside the gum pocket. In contrast to traditional gum surgery, LANAP is minimally invasive and precisely targets diseased tissue to maintain the health of your gums.

For many patients, the LANAP protocol offers a unique opportunity to regenerate lost tissue and fully restore the health of their gums. Contact a dentist to find out more about this innovative procedure today.
